This is an Audio Walk that I created for “Arken – The Museum of Contemporary Art” here in Denmark, exploring a number of themes in Mr. Hirst´s work. The concept of the audio walk is to create a soundscape that facilitates immersive and embodied experience of the room and the works while distancing itself from the traditional concepts of “The White Cube” and cartesian perspective.
Details and links after the jump.
The audio walk itself is built as an abstract narrative that loosely guides you through the works while emulating a human lifespan from childhood to death – which touches upon some of the themes central to Mr. Hirst´s work. The aim of the audio walk is to create an embodied experience by introducing sound and movement along with the traditionally prevalent gaze in the museum setting.
Listen to it at Arken.dk
(Primarily in Danish)
Otherwise you can rIght-click and download a rough version of it here – Damien Hirst Audio Walk
This version is a “rough cut” as rights are owned by Arken. Still its quite near to the final version and should be enough to demonstrate the general intentions of the work.
I recommend using iTunes to play it.
